Netherbridge Farm was named after the road bridge, Nether Bridge that crosses the river Tamar located 200 metres away. The bridge itself was first built in medieval times and has been changed many times over it’s history. In 1504 Nether bridge was replaced and was called ‘New Bridge’, before the name was changed to what it is known today, Netherbridge. The Farm house and barns were built in 1869 and were lived in by the Lillecrapp family who were farmers. The house and barns have changed owners many times since the Lillecrapps lived here, with the Stanbury family being one of the last to use the barns as part of the farm. In the main courtyard the Stanbury name is still engraved into the floor, so keep an eye out when you stay with us.
The transformation
The barns were refurbished to holiday lets between 2010 and 2013. During this process there were two different owners, with the second owner, Mr Broad, taking over the project in 2012. Here are some of the pictures showing the transformation by Mr Broad who finished the barns off ready to welcome the first guests in 2013.
In February 2021 Netherbridge Farm was taken over by Darren and Lynsey from Mr Broad and this was the start of Netherbridge Lakes. On taking over Netherbridge, Darren and Lynsey revamped the inside of the barns and looked to take advantage of this great location with improving the outside space. Below are some of the improvments that we have done to add to what will be a great stay at Netherbridge.
We have added outdoor furniture to all of our barns.
We have installed 5 fantastic hot tubs for private use in 5 of our barns.
We have added a games room for all guests to use, with a dartboard, table football and Air hockey.
We have installed 2 electric charging points through pod point for our guests with electric vehicles to use.
There is now a picnic area right next to the lake for our guests to enjoy.
Robin and Wren barns now have their own private gardens and Badger barn has a second garden.
